CONSTRUCTION: PHOTOFIT CRIMINAL IDENTIFICATION SCENE

Upon looking at the FutureLearn course Forensic Psychology, I discovered several processes that are used by police and forensics in order to identify possible suspects using Photofit as well as line ups. Other examples of these software include E-FIT and EFIT-V.


EFIT-V is the latest example of a composite system used by the police. It is designed to try and utilise facial recognition instead of face recall. The design of this software demonstrates how important it is to have psychological knowledge of how the mind works when it comes to police investigation.


My production team used Photofit Me in our trailer. The scene involves PI Andrews as he tries to make a photographic profile in his office of a possible murder suspect. The concept of incorporating such a convincingly professional method into our film fascinated me and really added an extra sense of depth and authenticity to the trailer. We used this process in two types of shots:
