In todays media lesson, we began to edit our film and begin to use intertitles to piece the trailer together. The software we are using to edit our film is FinalCut Pro. The reason we decided to use this software is because it is highly efficient and we are used to its layout, thus making the process of editing our film easier on a software that we know well.
The footage that we began to edit was the opening of the trailer, which takes place ten years prior to the rest of the trailer. In order to present this time jump, we decided to use an almost sepia colour in the FinalCut Pro to effectively convey this time jump, as the footage set in the present does not use this sepia colour. We have also decided to implement voiceover so that the time jump is clear. I also believe that using voiceover is significantly helpful in a Trailer as it is a trailer convention. It explains to the audience what is happening if they are not familiar with the film, and thus is an essential storytelling tool.
